Abstract

Introduction: Pregnancy is a unique state that is accompanied by frequent biological and psychological changes. Whereas there are identified changes in the levels of hormones such as progesterone and estrogen in pregnant women. Postpartum adequate pain is difficult to evaluate especially in developing country like India where most of the women are anaemic with poor reserve and this conditions are further aggravated by augmented insist during pregnancy and severe pain during of labor. Aim and Objectives: To study a comparative effect of Bupivacaine Hydrochloride and Ropivacaine Hydrochloride in Labor and Its Management in gynecology hospital. The purpose of this study was to compare these most frequently used Epidural anaesthetic agents in terms of their efficacy and side effects. Methods and Materials: The present study was conducted in the labor room of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Government Hospital, Chittoor. During the period 2016–2017, total 200 pregnant women undergoing induced labor included in the study. Result: Both the groups were comparable in respect of mean age. The mean duration of first stage and second stage was comparable in both the groups statistically. Duration of labour was less than 6 minute in maximum number of patients in both the groups. The duration was 12 minute or more in 30% of cases in Bupivacaine Hydrochloride group compared to 21% of cases in Ropivacaine Hydrochloride group. Discussion: In this study together the groups were comparable in admiration of mean age. The mean period of primary stage and second stage was comparable in both the groups statistically. Duration of 3rd stage of labour was less than 6 minute in greatest number of patients in both the groups. Conclusion: It is concluded from this study that both Ropivacaine Hydrochloride and Bupivacaine Hydrochloride are equally effective in the dynamic management in the all stage of labor. However an evaluation between two groups revealed that Low blood pressure, Loss of bladder control, Itchy skin, Slow breathing, Feeling sick & Headache
