Abstract

Forensic odontology deals with the arduous task of manifestation of a person?s identity. Although dactylography and DNA have been the most popular method used for recognition, it may not succumb to certain circumstances. Forensic dentists use details of dental structures, when these identification methods are inadequate or not possible. One such technique is the aid of cheiloscopy in human identification. It plays a pivotal role in addition to bite marks, tooth imprints, restorations, prosthesis, palatoscopy and linguoscopy. This article imparts a review on the purview of Cheiloscopy in Forensic Odontology.
