There may be metabolic consequences associated with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy in women. After bilateral salpingooophorectomy, this study examined glucose tolerance and lipid profile following menopause. During the study, 70 women aged 47-53 were recruited who had had hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy for benign basis. A glucose tolerance test, triglycerides test, TC test, LDL test, HDL test were carry out before and after surgery. A fasting insulin level and a two unit of time insulin level were also measured, along with the HOMA score for the homeostasis model assessment. It was estimated that the patients had a mean age of 48.6±2.9 years. Prior to surgery, the mean 2-h glucose level was 26.7 units/ml (P value is equal to 0.030). There was a significant difference in TG levels after surgery compared to before (P value is equal to 0.005), a significant difference in total cholesterol levels compared to after surgery (P value is equal to 0.0001), and a notable difference in LDL levels compared to before (P value is equal to 0.003). No significant differences were found in the other variables. A premenopausal woman's lipid profile should be carefully evaluated prior to undergoing a hysterectomy when TG, total cholesterol, and LDL levels increase
